Transportation
Silverton, Colorado is somewhat isolated
with the nearest airports in Durango (50 miles) and Montrose (56 miles).
Arrangements can be made to pick up participants at the airports the Sunday
before the workshop and return them the following Friday evening. Colorado
State Highway 550 south from Montrose or north from Durango provides the only
access to Silverton. Both routes are breath-taking, with winding roads and
high passes. Highway 550 is a scenic byway- the San Juan Scenic Skyway, the
portion from Ouray to Silverton is also known as the Million Dollar Highway,
one of the most beautiful routes in the country! Please contact us for more
travel information, or visit the Silverton Chamber of Commerce on-line at

Weather
Generally, Summer in the San Juan
Mountains is warm, and temperatures range from the 60s to 80s. Summer
monsoon rains come and go in the afternoons, and you can expect clear and
sunny skies otherwise. That being said, be prepared for anything, because at
9,318 feet, the weather can change dramatically - even snow! Bring fleece,
hat, sunscreen, and raincoat.
